Recently released and reviewed in the New York Times was a book that caught our attention, it is called The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing.  With the New Year around the corner many are cleaning up their houses, decluttering, and making a fresh start for 2015. We would like to offer some of tips for tidying up in 2015 loosely inspired by Marie Kondo’s best selling book. While it may not be magic, a tidy home certainly sells faster than a cluttered home! Happy New Year from all of us at Luxury Partners Realty!

  1. Does it bring you Joy? One of the ways Marie Kondo suggests you remove items from your home is to hold it and look at it and think, does this bring me joy? If it does not, get rid of it.
  2. Streamline Pictures! Take a look at all of your pictures, are they recent or do they represent distant past? Kondo recommends keeping pictures that are more recent in frames or those that represent the pinnacle of your personal happiness.
  3. Tidy for Life. Once you have removed items that no longer bring you joy and also have images of what you would like to attract in the new year, the running theme for the future in tidying up, is to not buy anything unless it has a purpose.Tidy for life!
